Primetime: What Would You Do? is an American television newsmagazine broadcast on ABC since February 26, 2008 as part of the Primetime series. The show is about setting up everyday scenarios and then capturing people's reactions. Whether they're compelled to act or mind their own business, John Quiñones reports on their split-second and often surprising decision-making process. Often people speculate on how they might act in a difficult situation, but this series looks at how they actually do in the face of everyday dilemmas that test their character and values.*

I would like to share with you a very interesting episode I recently came across. It shows a case of blatant racism in an upscale store in Soho, New York city's shopping district. The clerk and security guard and the black woman, the customer, are all actors. The cameras installed in the store all focus on the observers. So, what would you do?

What you you do if you saw a person suffering discrimination in similar circumstances? Would you step up and say something? Would you complain to the store manager? Would you help the person being discriminated? We will discuss these questions in class so you don't have to write answers to them.
